I have a friend that creates elaborate murder mystery parties, known for the crazy characters with outrageous names. My character this year is a Scottish maid, so bad accents abound. Her name: Ábhaistabhith Amhasgach.

It would serve him right if I could actually pronounce whatever that is (and I wouldn't put it past him for it to actually mean something stupid). Could someone give me their best guess on how to say it phonetically? Thanks so much!

àbhaist a bhith - is part of the verb for saying - used to do something and amhas can mean a wild man, so, amhasgachd means boorishness.

Actually, that would make sense- my character is an ex Russian thug. Just pretending to be Scottish, you see. It's all very confusing.

I don't suppose you could give a whack at how I might say that name out loud? It'd be ridiculous if I couldn't say my own name. I'm guessing it doesn't read like an English word.

àbhaist - AH-visht and - a bhith - a vi (but you can listen to Muirismac pronouncing them on Forvo)

Is there any variant of the transcription of this word? [vjɔlasjɔ̃] - like this :)
